Browlift, Blepharoplasty, and Facelift in Beverly Hills
By admin | July 7, 2011
I am often asked if a browlift can and should be done at the same time as an eyelid procedure (blepharoplasty) or facelift procedure. As far as a browlift and facelift go, the two procedures have absolutely nothing to do with each other; therefore, the browlift will not affect the facelift and the facelift will not affect the browlift so there is no right or wrong answer. If the person in question wants to have his/her brows rejuvenated at the same time as the lower face rejuvenated, then there is absolutely no reason to do the two procedures at separate times.
Similarly, if the person only wants the brows rejuvenated then there is no reason to perform a facelift at the same time. The brows and upper eyelids have a much more intertwined relationship to each other. When the brows are lifted the upper eyelids will also slightly elevate and somewhat rejuvenated as well. There are some people who will have an excellent brow and eyelid rejuvenation by just having the browlift; therefore, that person would not require an upper blepharoplasty. There are those people who have extremely heavy upper lids that will not be rejuvenated enough with a browlift and those people will require a browlift and upper eyelid blepharoplasty done at the same time to get the result that they desire. There are those people who are in the middle, meaning that their brows and upper lids are only mildly heavy and those people require a surgeon who has a lot of experience if they are going to have the two procedures done at the same time. The novice surgeon should do the browlift first and the upper blepharoplasty at a later time. The skilled and experienced surgeon can safely perform them both at the same time. I perform browlift and upper blepharoplasty on upwards of 75% of my patients at the same time because most of my patients want to address both problems with one healing period.

Nostril Reduction in Beverly Hills
By admin | June 27, 2011
As a Rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills I have taken care of people from around the world who are looking to improve the appearance of their nose with a rhinoplasty procedure. Often times this will include reducing the width of the nostrils or reducing the size of one nostril or lowering one or both nostrils to create a more symmetric and attractive appearing nose. Most often these asymmetries are the result of previous rhinoplasty but occasionally this can be the result of genetics. There are many different techniques to improve the appearance of the nostrils including removing excess tissue, adding tissue to lower or reshape a nostril as well suture techniques to change the nostril shape. Regardless of the technique chosen this is a very artistic endeavor that requires skill and judgment on the part of the surgeon. When done skillfully, the results can be excellent and can add the finishing touches to an already outstanding rhinoplasty result.

Eyelid Rejuvenation and Sunken Eye Correction in Beverly Hills
By admin | May 19, 2011
Lower Eyelid Enhancement
As a Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon I take care of people from all over the world who want to improve their appearance. The lower eyelids are an important area to rejuvenate when trying to improve one’s overall appearance. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of each person’s problem. Some people have bags on their lower lids, others have a sunken appearance, and others have a combination of both. For those who have bags, removing the fat pads is the appropriate procedure; however, I will admit that I see this problem in only a small percentage of patients. For those who are sunken I will fill their hollowness with fat taken from their own body (a “fat transfer”). I see this more often than isolated bags, but this is still not the most common variant. Most commonly, I see people who have both bags and hollowness. For these people I reposition their lower eyelid fat. This procedure reduces the bag but fills the hollow at the same time. This gives a very natural appearance that is youthful. This will give a permanent result and is in line with the goal of preservation of fat to prevent an aged appearance. The most youthful and beautiful faces have abundant fat, it’s just the fat is in the correct place. By repositioning fat we preserve volume and maintain a natural and youthful appearance.

Difference between Ethnic and Non Ethnic Rhinoplasty
By Jason B. Diamond M.D. F.A.C.S. | April 12, 2011
As a Beverly Hills Rhinoplasty and Revision Rhinoplasty expert, I see people of all different ethnicities who are seeking the Best Rhinoplasty surgeon they can find. The term ethnic rhinoplasty refers to anyone who is not of Caucasian descent. Regardless of ethnicity the principles and skill required are similar for every person to create an attractive and stable nose that will not collapse or develop problems over time. Often times we see thick skin in patients of African American and Asian descent but there are also many Caucasians with thick skin as well. It is now well understood that to improve the appearance of a nose with thick skin we need to push into the thick skin and this is most often done with cartilage grafting techniques to support the tip. These are the same principles and techniques that are often used in revision or secondary rhinoplasty as well.
The aesthetic goals of the patient need to be discussed thoroughly on a case by case basis because some people may want to maintain their ethnic (or family) look while others will want to eliminate it all together. I see about 60% of people who want to maintain their ethnic appearance to some degree and 40% of people who want to eliminate it. There is no right or wrong answer, it all depends on the patient’s desires. I really enjoy working with people of all ethnic backgrounds and now with my offices in NYC, Dubai, as well as LA, I have the privilege of doing a very high number of ethnic rhinoplasty procedures.

Stem Cell Facelift
By Jason B. Diamond M.D. F.A.C.S. | March 16, 2011
The Stem Cell facelift is being promoted by several PR savvy doctors in the community but there is no evidence that what they are promoting is real and the simple truth is that it intellectually doesn’t even make any sense. A stem cell can turn into anything, i.e. muscle, bone skin, hair or any other type of cell in the body and to assume that a stem cell will turn into fat is big leap of faith. Fat has been injected into the face for years by facial surgeons but to claim that there are stem cells creating further benefits to the face or skin is, in my opinion, very irresponsible and misleading. There is a reason that this is not even discussed at the best facial plastic surgery conferences up to date. Any technique that has any merit is taught and discussed at these legitimate meetings. There are no rules or regulations that doctors have to abide by when it comes to marketing and therefore, marketing in the world of plastic surgery is like the “Wild West” where anything goes. Buyers certainly must beware in this day and age. The day of stem cells being useful in plastic surgery may be coming down the road but it certainly is not here. In my opinion, any advertisements to the contrary are quite misleading.

Nonsurgical Facial Procedures in Dubai
By Jason B. Diamond M.D. F.A.C.S. | March 11, 2011
While in Dubai I met many wonderful people. One of the people I did work on was a local Dubai business man who was 60 and wanted to look better. He was hoping to have a facelift but I only had 1 day left on my trip so could not do a facelift for him. Instead, I was able to do some nonsurgical procedures for him on the spot and made some excellent changes for him in 10 minutes. We started with a little Botox to the crow’s feet. I then created definition and volume to his cheeks with Radiesse and did the same for his chin. He immediately looked to be about 10 years younger and he was very pleased. I will plan to do his facelift upon my return.

Dubai Facial Enhancement
By Jason B. Diamond M.D. F.A.C.S. | March 9, 2011
I just returned from Dubai and had an amazing experience. The first day I got there I saw 10 patients which is fairly busy and consistent with my patient load in Beverly Hills. The second day was the same, but the third day things exploded. As soon as word got out that I was there, the clinic was flooded and I couldn’t even keep up with the patient load so I ended up seeing people late into the night. A VIP requested that I go to his house at midnight for a consultation. Middle Eastern royalty from other countries traveled to see me. I had people who wanted me to do their facelifts and rhinoplasties on the same day as their consultations, which I was not prepared to do so I had to regretfully turn many people away. I saw many local patients for consultations and actually did several rhinoplasty and facelift procedures as well as many nonsurgical cheeklifts, Botox and other fillers. The people I saw were very nice and many of them invited me over to their houses for dinner, etc. I didn’t have time to accept everyone’s offers but I was so impressed with how cordial everyone was and really enjoyed spending time with them.
While I was there I filmed a live television show which is the most highly viewed show of its kind in the Middle East. I am returning in May and already have a full surgical schedule set for my return. I will be better prepared for my next trip and will be bringing my surgical assistant from Beverly Hills to accommodate more patients. It is a true privilege to be working in Dubai and helping these wonderful people. I very much look forward to my return visit.

Facelift Enhancement in Beverly Hills
By Jason B. Diamond M.D. F.A.C.S. | February 16, 2011
A.S. is a 54 year old woman who was interested in facial rejuvenation surgery. She is a very active person and is happily married. She has a very youthful spirit and has noticed over the last few years that her appearance does not match her personality. She feels that she looks much older than she feels and the she appears tired and mad when she is not. She was hoping for a fairly dramatic but natural change. A.S. is also unhappy with the appearance of her nose and her inability to breathe through her nose. She has had a previous rhinoplasty by a different physician several years ago and she still unhappy with the above mentioned problems with her nose. On examination I found her to have very flat and falling cheeks, hollowness under her eyes, a loose neck and jawline, severe wrinkles around her mouth and bulbous and drooping nasal tip with a deviated septum. I performed a fat transfer to her face, cheek implants, facelift, necklift, facial laser, revision rhinoplasty with deviated septum repair. She is healing very nicely and right on schedule.
Dr. Diamond,
It’s been two weeks since my procedures: face lift, neck lift, C02 laser resurfacing, fat injections, cheek implants, and a rhinoplasty. My husband asked me if I would do it all over again and I said, “Yes, in a heartbeat!” and I sincerely mean it. Before our consultation I had many concerns and doubts which is only natural when dealing with surgery of the face. However, you set my mind at ease by truly listening to my concerns and answering all my questions in a way that I could fully understand. You spent a significant amount of time and were never in a rush to answer my questions and explain the procedures. I came away feeling very confident in your abilities and I knew I could trust you. This allowed me to focus on your instructions for after surgery so that my recovery would be quick and the results positive. Despite being only two weeks post-op, I already am so happy with my results! I’m especially thrilled with how you repaired my deviated septum! After so many years, I can finally breath normally and my nose looks terrific.
What an amazing work family you have in Janet, Lynsay, and Ashley! These ladies were always respectful, caring, and knowledgeable. They took great care of me and were always there with a smile. I am truly happy with the outcome of all the procedures and so glad I took your suggestion to add cheek implants and the rhinoplasty. Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
A.S.

Facelift Approach in Beverly Hills
By Jason B. Diamond M.D. F.A.C.S. | February 1, 2011
Each face is different and every face ages differently, as a Facial Plastic Surgeon in Beverly Hills I understand this and therefore I approach my surgical technique accordingly. People often call the office to ask my receptionist or nurse what procedure I will recommend for them and how much it will cost. I don’t have one cookie cutter approach to the aging face and therefore I treat each face as an individual work of art. I develop a specific plan based on the patient’s anatomy and goals and will determine if the person will require a deep plane facelift vs. a vertical facelift vs. a mini facelift, etc. I will furthermore determine if the person will best be benefited by cheek implants vs. fat grafting vs. mid facelift etc. There are so many different techniques that I have perfected over the years that are available to me and each technique has certain indications that work better for some people than others. It is my job and passion to figure out what combination of techniques will give my patient the best possible results and I have committed myself to being the best the Best Facial Plastic surgeon and the Best Facelift surgeon that I can be.
