I did two Revision Rhinoplasties on people from Ireland over the last month. Both of these women are from Dublin and they do not know each other. I have treated several people from Ireland over the last 10 years but never 2 in the same month. Both of these women had their original Rhinoplasties in Ireland and one of them had a revision in Paris. They both had over reduced bridges that made their noses look scooped out. Both had collapse and lack of support to the tip. I used nasal bridge implants on both of them to rebuild the bridge and reconstructed both of their nasal tips. Both women were extremely happy and I look forward to seeing them both again over the next year.

For my European patients and other international patients I have them email photos on a monthly basis to check their progress. This has worked out perfectly for hundreds of foreign patients over the last 10 years.

My family and I celebrated the 4th of July in Newport beach at a friends house who is a Beverly Hills surgeon and I just did his rhinoplasty and neck lift 3 weeks prior. He is thrilled with his results.
We were at a gathering where there was a very wealthy family with many young women who had extremely unnatural appearing noses. Clearly they were all the results of poorly performed rhinoplasties. I was amused as this was such a cliche and classic situation , the young wealthy women with 1980’s style noses. I came to find out that they all saw a very well known older surgeon in Southern California. I am surprised that Plastic Surgeons are still performing this type of rhinoplasty despite all the advances in knowledge and technique over the last 15 years. I am not sure if the young ladies in question are pleased with the appearance of their noses and that is really the bottom line, but I am quite certain that they aware that they have a surgically altered look. I was also quite proud to see the results of my work up close and personal next to the results of this other famous surgeon’s. (If this was a competition it would have been a blowout).

As a Beverly Hills Facelift and Rhinoplasty specialist I have taken care of people from over 100 different countries. Most recently, I did a full face rejuvenation on a man from Nigeria. This is the first time I have done surgery on a person from this country. He tells me that I am well known there based on my Dr. 90210 exposure.

His surgery included Facial Fat grafting, Upper and Lower eyelids, Endoscopic Browlift, Necklift, Facelift, and Revision Rhinoplasty. He had previously had some strange procedures done to his face by surgeons in France. They performed liposuction to his cheeks which is not supposed to be done because it can leave terrible deformities which it did on him. I was able to correct these problems. He also had very thin and receding hair, so I performed the Endoscopic Browlift through extremely small incisions that will not be noticeable even if his hair does recede beyond the incisions. It is a privilege to take care of people from such different backgrounds and I can only hope I see more nice people from Nigeria.

This patient’s name is Lynn and she lives in Beverly Hills, California. She spent years searching the right Plastic surgeon to rejuvenate her face. Lynn came to see me about 3 months ago. I felt that I could give Lynn exactly what she was hoping for and she decided to have surgery with me. Lynn is now 6 weeks out from a Full facial rejuvenation that included a browlift, upper and lower eyelids, small chin implant, facial fat injections and rhinoplasty. Lynn is thrilled with her results and this has changed her life. She now has more self confidence then ever and she has seen that benefit spill over into her personal and professional life. This is just another example of how ones appearance can directly influence and benefit how they go about living their daily lives.

This is the first “testimonial” I have ever written. It is the first time I have ever been moved and excited enough to want to write one. But I have just had the most amazing experience. And it has to do with something I never thought I would do. I had plastic surgery on my face. I am going to start with the doctor because that is where it really all begins. His name is Dr. Jason Diamond. And he is incredible. His Beverly Hills office, The Diamond Face Institute, is located on Brighton Way at the corner of Canon Drive. It is a warm, relaxed state of the art facility and the staff is so kind and professional and they make you feel like you are the most important person in the world from the moment you first walk in. I will say more about them later. They are extraordinary. I have to say here that I had not been planning to

have “work” done at that moment of my life. But the opportunity came up and I decided to do it, in a week and a half, not a lot of time to do any in depth research. I was so worried I would not find the right person to do perform the surgery. And then Dr. Diamond walked into the exam room. He is a tall, good looking man in impeccable scrubs, but the thing I was most struck by was his energy. It is palpable in the room and reassuring. I figured he had the stamina to stand on his feet for hours in an operating room and remain fully present. And then I looked in his eyes…they were blue and clear and deeply focused and I knew immediately that I could trust this man with my face. I was totally right. At the risk of sounding too dramatic, I have to say that Dr. Diamond is really a genius. His attention to detail combined with his incredible artist’s “eye” for proportion and the look of the whole, allows him to create results that are truely beautiful and seemingly just right for the individual patient he is working with. As he looked at my face that day I felt he really saw ME and that whatever he was about to suggest and to do would be with my unique and particular needs in mind. My biggest fear going into surgery was that I would not look like myself afterwards; and that I would have the “puffed and pulled” look so many people have after the swelling goes away. But Dr. Diamond made me look natural-even my most picky friends keep saying they can not believe how un-“done” I look. By the way, though I don’t know that much about the medical procedures involved, I have to say Dr. Diamond’s surgical expertise must be profound. My healing went so well and astoundingly quickly. One of the questions I often hear is “but where are the scars?” And they are almost impossible to detect-and were nearly invisible as early as 2-3 weeks into the recovery. By the way, I need to mention another astounding force of nature at the Diamond Face Institute-his nurse and right hand woman, Janet. She is the consummate professional, full of compassion and empathy and information, and so talented in all the procedures she herself performs. Janet redefines the words multi-tasking, and all this with grace and genuine caring for the patients. It has been 9 weeks since my operation. People that meet me for the first time seem to have no idea at all that I have had surgery. Since I know that I have, and because I am still basically a little insecure about being the new me, I hasten to tell them that “I just had my face done 2 months ago in case you are wondering” and every single one of them has said “you’re kidding…I would never ever have thought that”. One of the best tributes to Dr. D’s work happened in the elevator in his building as I was going up to the Penthouse suite about 2 weeks post op. A woman got on the elevator with me on the first floor and said “How do you stay so slim?”. I told her I had actually had surgery on my face 14 days ago and had lost 10 lbs. She asked what could I possibly have had done to my face since I was so young? I told her I was sixty two and that there had been quite a bit to do. Her jaw literally dropped and as she backed out of the elevator she sputtered “WHO was the doctor and WHERE can I find him?” I of course told her he was just a few floors away and his name was Dr. Jason Diamond. As the elevator door closed, I saw she was pulling a piece of paper and a pen out of her purse. I could go on and on with the compliments paid by others to this Dr’s work. But the important thing really is that I love how I look. When I look in the mirror I feel a confidence and a joy that I have not felt in many years. And this “from the outside in” approach is, I think, as valid as its opposite. It is why I am a sincere believer in plastic surgery for anyone who feels they want it. And if that is ever you, give yourself the gift of surgery with this outstanding doctor. I passionately believe there is no one else who brings such caring, dedicated, love for his craft to every patient he serves. Dr. Jason Diamond is unique and gifted and adores what he does. I feel so happy and lucky to have had the experience of his (yes, I’ll say it again!) genius.

Often times patients like this have adequate septal cartilage left in their nose to allow for an excellent reconstruction. The less sophisticated Rhinoplasty surgeons usually don’t violate the septum which actually makes the reconstruction fairly easy. When the septum has been violated then we need another source of cartilage or material to facilitate the reconstruction. I usually take rib cartilage because it provides an excellent and copious amount of cartilage. The healing from the chest incision and dissection is not as bad as it may sound. Rib cartilage is the standard of care and is the most commonly used technique by sophisticated rhinoplasty surgeons to do reconstructions. However, I do see people who do not want their chest operated on and for these people I do offer them the use of Medpore which is a synthetic mesh-like material that has similar strength and weight to cartilage. Medpore can be used safely and effectively in most of the areas of the nose that need to be restructured following poor previous rhinoplasty procedures. By using Medpore, the operating time is significantly less than when rib cartilage is used and therefore, the cost to the patient is less. I have used Medpore in about 100 people since 2002 and I have never had an adverse outcome. I would never try to talk anyone into using Medpore and I will always recommend rib cartilage over Medpore but it is an option for those who want to keep the surgery time and cost to a minimum.

I am very proud of a patient that I took care of recently. This young woman was born with a cleft lip which also creates cosmetic deformities to the nose. She had the lip surgically repaired along with the nose when she was a child. The nose was redone several times in her teens. She still has a cosmetic deformity to her nose and she came to see me to have her nose corrected.

I did a revision rhinoplasty for her where I took down the bump and straightened the bridge and I narrowed, and lifted her tip. She is now 2 weeks out from her surgery and she looks absolutely stunning. She has always been a beautiful girl but she was self conscious about the appearance of her nose and this probably is deeply tied to her growing up with a cleft clip. Now her personality reflects her beauty and I am so proud of her for deciding to make this change for herself.

I am often asked “Doc am I to young to have a procedure done”? The answer to question depends on the person asking the question. Rhinoplasty surgery is often done on people 15 years old and up. Otoplasty or ear pinning is done on kids when they turn 5 or 6 years old (to prevent teasing in grade school).

Neck sculpting in the form of liposuction or even necklifts is often done on people in their early 20’s who were born with poor anatomy such that they don’t have the sculpted neck, chin and jawline that is so desirable and considered sexy and attractive by all.

Lower or minifacelifts as well are often done on people in their mid to late 30’s who have aged more rapidly than normal either based on lifestyle, major weight fluctuations or genetics. The fact is our knowledge and skill level is so advanced that skilled Facial Surgeons are able to deliver amazing and natural changes for people who are looking to improve their appearance and therefore age is not a major factor anymore.

I advise people that if they are bothered by something that I can correct for them in an excellent and safe way then they are not too old or young. People should only have cosmetic procedures done for themselves and not because other people think they should. A Person deciding to improve his or her facial appearance is no different than someone deciding to go on a diet or join a gym to improve the appearance of their body.

Claudia is a nice young lady who is getting ready for a wedding and wants to look her best for that occasion. She is hoping to make her nose more feminine and attractive. She also has had some type of unknown material injected into her lips when she was in Mexico several years ago. Since that time she has noticed that her lips have continued to grow and are looking more and more deformed as time goes by. She also wants to have this material removed so that her lips will look more normal. Claudia had a rhinoplasty where I removed the bump on her bridge and refined her tip making it more narrow and lifting the tip slightly. I also removed a copious amount of an unknown substance form her upper and lower lip. The material was white and a gritty appearance. I suspect this was something called Aquamid which is a substance that is frequently injected into the lips and face in South American countries. I was able to remove all of the offending substance and Claudia’s lips now look normal.

“Dr. Diamond has done such an amazing job! My rhinoplasty procedure was better than what I could have ever expected. Dr. Diamond addressed every issue I had with my nose from the medium sized lump at the top of my nose to the revising of my previous lip augmentation. I can’t wait until my nose has fully healed! You’re the best Dr. Diamond. Thank you.”

I am proud to announce that I have received “The Outstanding Achievement in Aesthetic Medicine Award” for 2010. I will be the Keynote Speaker to a crowd of about 300 physicians this Saturday 3/27/10 at the Beverly Hills Hilton where I will be honored with this award. I was chosen to receive “The Best Facial Plastic Surgeon Award” by my peers and colleagues at the 2008 Aesthetic show in Las Vegas that comprised about 3000 physicians form all over the world. I was the Keynote speaker at that meeting as well and I discussed the Newest Advances in Facial Plastic Surgery. This Saturday I will be speaking about how I have developed one of the premier Facelift and Rhinoplasty practices in the world. The goal of this talk is to teach other physicians about how to be the best at whatever it is they are trying to achieve. I will profile my career from its beginning to where I am now and the steps I have taken to get here. I am proud to have received these awards and I look forward to continuing to be a leader in the world of Facial Plastic Surgery for many years to come.
