Journal Review Group for Plastic and Facial Surgeons
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | January 30, 2010
Beverly Hills and Los Angeles Journal Group
I am part of a journal review group in Beverly Hills where the top Plastic surgeons, Facial Plastic surgeons and Occuloplastic surgeons from Beverly Hills and Los Angeles get together to review the latest information from around the world related to the field of Plastic Surgery. At the last meeting on Janurary 27, we discussed rhinoplasty techniques, eyelid techniques and liquid facelift or non surgical facelift techniques. The main filler we discussed was Sculptra. Sculptra is a filler that lasts about 1 to 2 years and therefore has the same longevity as Radiesse. I have a lot of experience with both Sculptra and Radiesse and have been very pleased with the results of the liquid facelift which is a great procedure for the appropriate person. The liquid facelift can give a nice rejuvenation to the hollow lower eyelid and cheek region as well as fill some of the lines and shallow areas of the face. We can combine Botox and lasers to give a more comprehensive improvement to the face. These results are not as long lasting or as powerful as a surgical facelift but there is less healing time and less cost involved.

THE EARLY SHOW ON CBS, Facial Rejuvenation
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | December 28, 2009
THE EARLY SHOW ON CBS
I am performing a full face rejuvenation on a lovely lady in her early 60’s which will be featured on the Early Show. This woman has felt invisible as she has aged, meaning she does not receive attention from people because of her tired appearance. She also has had trouble dating because she has no self esteem because of her appearance. I will be performing a browlift, upper and lower eyelid rejuvenation ( blepharoplasty), facelift, necklift, fat transfer to the face and rhinoplasty. I will then perform the E-Matrix laser in the office for her 3 weeks after her surgery. I expect this procedure to change her life and give her her self esteem back. I have been told this story will be aired over several segments and I look forward to helping her.

Facelift and Rhinoplasty in Dubai
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | December 22, 2009
I have been asked by Middle Eastern Royalty if I woulod consider coming to the Middle East to perform surgery there. I am strongly considering going to Dubai to perform facelifts and rhinoplasties. My trip would be scheduled for the end of Janurary 2010 and I would stay for 2 weeks. I think this would be an exciting trip and I would love to visit Dubai as I hear it is amazing.
I have many Middle Eastern patients who fly to LA and NYC to see me, people from Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Israel. This would obviously make my services more accessible to those people who can’t travel as readily and I have really enjoyed all my patients from that part of the world. They have been some of the nicest people I have taken care of and I would not expect that to change if I go to Dubai. I will keep updating the status of the trip on my blog as I make more decisions.

Permanent Lip Implant Beverly Hills
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | December 16, 2009
There have been many different types of lip implants in the history of cosmetic surgery but most have been fraught with problems. Most of the problems relate to tissue in-growth into the implant which causes the implant to harden. This translates into a stiff lip.
Another implant form is injectable liquid silicone which does give a permanent enhancement but this is very controversial since the silicone can migrate and cause problems years after the injection. In this case the only treatment is surgical extraction which sometimes cannot even be done so this is a very risky option.
There are surgical lip lift techniques like the subnasal or bullhorn lip lift as well as the VY-plasty all of which are great options for a certain subset of people. Fillers including autologous fat, hyaluronic acids ( i.e. Restylane, Juvederm), Radiesse, Collagen and others are all temporary forms of lip augmentation and need to be done repeatedly.
There is now a very safe, solid but soft silicone lip implant that gives a permanent augmentation and avoids the risk of stiffening because there is no tissue in-growth. This is the perfect option for someone who is in search of fuller lips and does not want to undergo repeated injections with fillers. This also avoids the risk of liquid silicone because there is no liquid in this implant risking leakage or migration. Up until now injectable fillers were the gold standard for pretty and sexy lips but now the silicone lip implant offers a permanent option that will most likely become the option of choice for many people as this becomes a more widely recognized procedure. This procedure is done in the office under local anesthesia and takes about 20 minutes to perform.

Dr. 90210
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | November 24, 2009
I just got notice that the season of Dr. 90210 will air December 2 at 10 pm on E. I do a facial sculpting procedure on a young woman with a syndromic face, meaning that she has the appearance of Down’s syndrome and a few other syndromes but she does not have those syndromes. This has been quite difficult for her to deal with as people treat her like she is mentally challenged and yet she is perfectly normal. I performed an eyelid reshaping, a browlift, cheeklift, chin implant and rhinoplasty. I am looking forward to seeing how the episode turns out from a rating standpoint.

Beverly Hills Midface Surgery
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | November 20, 2009
For years facelift surgery has been effective at tightening the neck but the biggest weakness with a facelift is its ability to correct the middle third of the face.
The deep plane facelift is the best facelift for the middle third of the face and this is the first facelift technique that I perfected years ago. Since then I have perfected many other facelift techniques to address different aspects of the face. The midfacelift or cheeklift is an excellent way to correct the middle third of the face and it gives even more correction then the deep plane facelift but like any lifting technique the downside is that it is not permanent.
Cheek implants are notorious for being difficult to make perfect and therefore not many surgeons perform them. I have been doing cheek implants for many years and I honestly have had extremely high success rates with these. However, I was never perfectly thrilled with the implant design until now. There is a new implant called the midface implant and I am very excited about this implant. I have had extremely happy patients with this and I love the design and shape of this implant. This gives a permanent result that I think will make the full facial rejuvenation procedures even better going forward.

Non Surgical Nose Job Beverly Hills
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | November 17, 2009
The non surgical nose job is a procedure that I have been doing since 2002. When I first started doing the procedure the media loved it because they have never heard of anyone doing the procedure before. I was on ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX news. Inside edition came to office and filmed me doing a patient. Furthermore, I was on the Life and Style talk show which was a daytime talk show hosted by Jules Eisner in Manhattan. The entire segment was on my technique and the benefits of the procedure.
The nonsurgical nose job is a procedure that I continue to do for the appropriate candidates. I was at a medical meeting recently where one of the lectures was on the nonsurgical nose job. I discovered that this doctor who was giving the lecture trademarked the name nonsurgical nose job a few years ago and now it can no longer be used without his permission. I at first laughed at that notion. I have no doubt that he saw one of the shows that I did and got the idea from there. I am not sure how the law works but I hope that I don’t get into trouble for mentioning the name nonsurgical nose job in this blog. I have a video copy of all of the media that I did on this procedure 7 years ago and I wonder if I would be violating the law if I put them on my website now. I probably won’t put that information on my website because I don’t think it merits special attention at this point because there are so few people who are actually good candidates for the procedure and it is so limited in what it can accomplish but wouldn’t that be something if I legally couldn’t display or mention something on my website that I first exposed to the public? I have never considered myself to be a good business man. I am a doctor first and foremost and my craft is what I spend all my time thinking about and perfecting and this is just another perfect example of exactly that.
Who would have ever thought to trademark the name of a procedure that you didn’t develop?

Beverly Hills Rhinoplasty Revision, Dorsal Augmentation
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | November 12, 2009
Dorsal Augmentation
As my rhinoplasty practice has exploded over the last 8 years I have seen more and more revision rhinoplasty patients than ever before. As a result I am seeing more people who have had their bridges over reduced which results in a very sloped and unnatural look. To correct this problem we “augment the dorsum” which is a fancy way of saying we build the bridge back up. There are several ways that I do this.
For people who need only minimal augmentation I prefer to use their own cartilage from their septum. Septal cartilage is very easy to work with and provides the perfect thickness and strength to place on the bridge or the tip. For people who require more substantial augmentation I prefer one of 2 techniques. I use either a specialized implant or a sandwich made up of diced cartilage and temporalis fascia. The latter option is basically dicing up the persons own cartilage into tiny pieces and placing it inside tissue that is taken from the forehead. This sandwich is very soft and gives an excellent augmentation and is ideal for people with thin skin. When a person has thin skin it is easy to see through the skin and therefore using a person’s own tissue is appropriate because it helps to camouflage the augmentation whereas an implant can sometimes show through the thin skin. For people with medium or thicker skin I prefer to use a specialized implant which is made of silicone wrapped in a very thin fine layer of e-PTFE which is a specialized type of super soft gortex. This implant is the perfect consistency for the bridge and gives a perfectly smooth bridge, smoother then any other method can offer. For those people who require full tip reconstruction as well as bridge reconstruction I often will use that persons own rib to rebuild the entire nose. Rib cartilage provides an excellent source of cartilage when a large amount of cartilage is required.
I have a lot of experience with all of the above methods and I use more of the specialized implants then any other method. The implant eliminates the need to harvest tissue form another site and therefore makes the surgery more minimal and requires less healing. The other listed methods are excellent options as well and the appropriate method has to be tailored to the appropriate patient to get long lasting and outstanding results.

Fox News Rhinoplasty
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | October 29, 2009
I was on the treadmill at the gym and was flipping through the channels to pass the time and I came upon fox news. My attention was immediately captured by two blond women sitting on a panel of some sort. They were side by side and their names were something like Megan Kelly and Lisa Weil. I’m not sure what they were talking about but I am sure that those are two of the worst rhinoplasty results on cable news and they were side by side. They otherwise are attractive women and obviously very intelligent people. I would love to see them both get the revision rhinoplasties that they desperately need. One of them has retracted nostrils that are asymmetric and an over-reduced bridge. The other has a misshapen tip that is bulbous and quite abnormal in appearance. I don’t know why I found this so amusing but I am just baffled that they are proudly displaying their faces on television with these odd appearing noses that a surgeon created in an effort to improve their appearances. I guess I feel the same way about them that I feel about Bruce Jenner. With all due respect, someone should fix his unnatural surgically altered appearance.
By the way I lost 20 pounds over the last 5 weeks and I plan to lose 5 more…diet and exercise, diet and exercise!

Facelift Beverly Hills
By Jason B. Diamond M.D., F.A.C.S. | October 20, 2009
Best Facelift in Beverly Hills and NYC
I am proud to have developed a premier facelift practice in Beverly Hills and Manhattan, NYC. Similar to rhinoplasty patients I am often asked, “Dr. Diamond, I want the best Facelift possible, is the Deep Plane Facelift better then the Vertical Facelift or the Mini Facelift?” I am honored that people think of me when they are looking for the best. I think it’s important to explain to people that The Best Facelift technique really depends on the person’s facial anatomy including their bony structure, amount of fat in the face and quality of the skin. I have written extensively on this topic and have given many lectures on the benefits and limitations of each facelift technique. The technique that will give an individual The Best Facelift needs to be carefully determined by the surgeon with the patient’s goals and input as key factors in the decision making process.
